The new RR9/200 is the latest compact railway boom lift developed by Platform Basket, specifically designed to make aerial railway maintenance operations extremely efficient and user-friendly.

Engineered to be exceptionally lightweight and compact, the RR9/200 can be transported by road using trailers with a maximum total weight of 3.5 tons. Despite its compact size, it delivers a working height of up to 9.5 metres with a 200 kg payload, safely accommodating two operators in the basket.

The RR9/200 offers true versatility, functioning as a self-propelled platform both on railway tracks and for conventional civil aerial work. Transportation to site is simple and cost-effective, using a pick-up or van with tow hitch and a light trailer, without the need for an HGV licence.

Its structure is based on a tracked undercarriage designed for road and off-road use, ensuring excellent traction on all types of terrain while maintaining a very low ground pressure, ideal for delicate surfaces such as railway station platforms.

The base carriage incorporates two hydraulically controlled systems that allow fast and safe transfer from crawler tracks to railway wheels. A key advantage is the hydraulic rotation of the tracks perpendicular to the railway bogies, enabling effortless access to the tracks without complex alignment manoeuvres.

The transmission system features independent drive wheels for both the tracked undercarriage and railway wheels. Each railway wheel is equipped with a negative brake to ensure safe braking under all conditions, even in the absence of power. Combined with a two-speed transmission, the RR9/200 can travel on rails at speeds of up to 10 km/h.

Power is supplied by a 10.5 kW diesel engine.
Upon request, the machine can also be equipped with lithium-ion batteries for fully electric operation, making it suitable for use in tunnels, underground railways and enclosed environments such as stations, depots and maintenance sheds.

The upper structure consists of a 360° rotating turret with automatic basket levelling, compensating for railway cant up to 180 mm on a 1435 mm gauge.

Its articulated boom design ensures exceptional compactness, allowing easy access to and from the railway even when adjacent roads remain open to traffic.

The all-aluminium work basket provides ample space for two operators with a maximum payload of 200 kg.
Equipotential bonding between the basket and the railway track is ensured through a system of 35 mm² copper braids positioned at each articulation point, enhancing operator safety in the event of electrical surges.

Main applications:

• Civil applications: ideal for maintenance of railway station platform roofs thanks to low weight and reduced ground pressure.

• Track access for light maintenance works such as signage, lighting and overhead line inspections.

• Tunnels and underground railways, for general maintenance inside stations and enclosed areas, using the zero-emission electric version.

The 90-degree rotation of the crawler tracks allows instant transition between railway and road logistics.

Road travel can be controlled either directly on board or via a convenient wearable ground control console.

The ergonomic control module, featuring joystick, levers and an intuitive display, ensures smooth and effortless operation — making work with the RR9/200 both efficient and enjoyable.
